The Long Beach Sagely Monastery on Ocean Blvd in Long Beach, CA, had been a Carmelite Catholic convent for 40 years. It was purchased by the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas when the nuns moved to a new place in Santa Barbara. When the Buddhists purchased the property, they asked them to leave the statue of the Virgin Mary in the front, because they also worship her as Guanyin Bodhisattva. Even now, Catholics still come to pay homage and bring offerings of fresh flowers almost every day.
